This ground hugging plant gets its name from its dark green leaves which look similar to that of the herb Thyme. It forms flat mats of leaves which are studded in Summer with pretty pink flowers. In the wild it grows on sea coasts so it prefers a well-drained soil in a sunny position and is ideal for planting at the edge of paving or in rockeries. It forms a mat 5cm high.
